Trading 212 is one of the fastest-growing commission-free investment platforms in Europe, available in more than 10 countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Portugal, Italy and Spain. Founded in 2004 and regulated by the FCA (United Kingdom) and CySEC (European Union), it has accumulated millions of users thanks to its zero-commission model on stocks and ETFs. Its main appeal for passive investors is the ability to buy fractional shares and ETFs from as little as £1, enabling diversification with very small contributions from day one. In addition, Trading 212 offers an interest-bearing account on uninvested cash, providing an additional return while capital awaits investment. The most popular ETFs among its users are the Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF (VWCE), the iShares Core MSCI World UCITS ETF (IWDA), the iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF (CSPX) and the Amundi Prime All Country World UCITS ETF. The platform is available in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian, making it accessible to investors across Europe. ⚠️ Important notice: Trading 212 also offers CFD (contracts for difference) products, which are high-risk instruments and are not suitable for long-term passive investing. For index investing, use exclusively the investment account (Invest or Stocks & Shares ISA), not the CFD account. To analyse your portfolio in Index Balance, enter each ETF with its ISIN and your contributions. Automatic import from Trading 212 is currently in development.
Frequently asked questions
Is Trading 212 a safe platform for long-term investing?
Yes, for the investment account (Invest). Trading 212 is regulated by the FCA and CySEC. Securities are held in segregated accounts and cash deposits are protected up to £85,000 (FCA) or €20,000 (CySEC) depending on the regulatory entity in your country. It is important not to confuse the Invest account with the CFD account, which is a high-risk product not suitable for passive investing.
Which index ETFs can I buy on Trading 212?
The most popular are: Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF (VWCE), iShares Core MSCI World UCITS ETF (IWDA), iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF (CSPX), Amundi Prime All Country World and Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets. All available fractionally from £1, with no trading commission.
What is the difference between the Invest account and the CFD account?
The Invest account (including the Stocks & Shares ISA) is for real investment in stocks and ETFs: you own the actual shares, there is no leverage and it is suitable for long-term strategies. The CFD account allows you to speculate with leverage on asset prices without actually buying them: 76–82% of retail investors lose money with CFDs and it is not suitable for passive investing. Index Balance is designed exclusively for Invest account portfolios.

Enter each ETF with its ISIN, the units purchased and the date of each contribution. Index Balance will calculate your TWRR return, the comparison against the MSCI World, your portfolio drawdown and the optimal rebalancing plan. Automatic import is currently in development.
